The short version

SnipVault does not require an account, does not collect analytics, and never transmits your clipboard history, screenshots, OCR text, or snippets to us. Capture, search, OCR, and expansion all happen on your Mac, and the results stay there.

The app makes exactly two kinds of outbound request: validating a licence key with Dodo Payments, and, only if you turn it on and only in a build that includes the iCloud entitlement, syncing your vault between your own Macs through your own iCloud account. If you never enter a licence key and never turn on sync, SnipVault makes no network requests at all.

What stays on your Mac

• Everything you copy that SnipVault captures: text, links, images, files, colours, GIFs, and the app each came from
• Screenshots you take with ⇧⌘2 and the text recognised in them, which is produced by Apple's Vision framework on your Mac
• Snippets, pinboards, tags, and settings
• The date the app was first launched, used to run the 7-day trial, kept in your preferences, in Application Support, and in your login Keychain so it survives a reinstall
• Your licence key and its activation id, kept in your login Keychain so the app works offline

The vault is a SQLite database in your user Library. It is not uploaded, and there is no SnipVault server holding a copy, because there is no SnipVault server.

What SnipVault refuses to keep

• Content that apps mark as concealed or transient, which is how password managers flag passwords
• Anything copied while a password manager is the active app; the default ignore list covers 1Password, Bitwarden, Keychain Access, and Apple Passwords, and you can add more
• One-time codes and card numbers are captured but automatically deleted from the vault after 60 seconds, and they never sync

The two things that leave

Licence validation. When you enter a licence key, the app sends that key and this Mac's name to live.dodopayments.com to confirm it is valid and to register this Mac against the licence's activation limit. The app re-checks once a day. The request contains the key and the machine name only, never your clipboard. A validated licence works offline for 14 days before it must check again.

iCloud sync, optional. If you turn on sync, your history, pinboards, and snippets are stored in your own iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit, encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple, and readable only by your devices. We cannot read it. Expiring secrets and file references never sync. Sync is off by default and is available only in builds signed with the iCloud entitlement.

Payment data

Purchases are processed by Dodo Payments, acting as merchant of record. Card details are entered on their checkout, not on this site, and are never seen by SnipVault or its developer. What we receive is confirmation that a licence was issued, the email address the key was sent to, and the plan bought, so we can help with support and billing.

Permissions

SnipVault asks for Accessibility so it can press ⌘V for you when you paste from the vault and so snippet keywords can expand as you type. It watches keystrokes only to match snippet keywords you created; keystrokes are never stored or transmitted, and the watcher is off unless you enable expansion. It asks for Screen Recording so ⇧⌘2 can capture a region of the screen for OCR. Both can be revoked at any time in System Settings, Privacy & Security.

This website

snipvault.io is a static site served by Cloudflare Pages. It uses Google Analytics 4 (property G-1WC89P2JR3) to count visits and see which pages and links are used. Google may set cookies and receives the page URL, referrer, and a truncated IP address when you load a page; see Google's privacy policy. This applies to the website only, never to the Mac app. Cloudflare keeps standard, short-lived server logs, which include your IP address, to serve and protect the site. The activate page contains a small script that hands a licence key from the checkout return link to the app on your Mac; the key is not sent anywhere by that page.

Your rights

Because the application collects no personal data, there is nothing held by us to access, export, or erase. For data held by the payment processor in connection with a purchase, email diljit@dprsoftwarelabs.com and it will be raised with Dodo Payments on your behalf. You can delete everything SnipVault stored on your Mac by quitting the app and removing its folder in Application Support and its items in Keychain Access.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects what leaves your Mac, the change will be dated here and noted in the release that introduces it.
